Chapter 7: Shadows and Tall Trees
Perspective: Simon
Let me go!!!
It started when we were looking for that stupid beast. How do they know it was a beast it was dark at night and it could have been something else? Because the beast wasn’t where nobody has been to they wanted to look for it on the top of the mountain. So we started going up to the top of the mountain.
I kept picturing Piggy back at the camp all alone with the little ones. He is probably feeling really dun. Piggy wouldn’t be stuck back there all by himself if it wasn’t for Jack. He is always so careless for others. We need to respect each other because we rely on each other to get off this island.
I know that Ralph will get home safely because he is kind to other people and he is a good leader. But when it comes to Jack I don’t know he is always yelling at other people and not respecting them. He also is impervious for others and he hates Ralph and me because we are kind to other people. I think it is good to be nice because you never know when you will need them to help you.
We heard this strange sound and it turns out to be a wild boar. It is charging at us and it whips by and cuts Jack. But Ralph got him with the spear right in the sought and it got away. After that we started to pretend that Roger was the pig. But it ends with Roger in the middle of the circle getting spears poked at his face.
Once we get to the mountain it is already getting dark. So we can’t let Piggy stay alone all night with the little ones. They all want to go on because they are almost there but they want someone to go back to Piggy to tell him they will get back after dark. So I said let me go!!! Then I ran right into the forest. I was acting very bravado when I said that. I was running as fast as I could through the moors and creepers. There was brine on my face from the sweat.
I really hope I will get back to Piggy in time. I can’t even tell which way is camp. I don’t know if I will even make it back to Piggy. I wish I was back home in England.
