Chapter 8: Gift for the Darkness
Perspective: Piggy
Finally Jack is gone!!!
I can’t believe that Jack and Ralph believe there is a beast on the mountain. I don’t think there really is a beast it was just some bush or something like that. Ralph says he saw it had teeth and big black eyes. So Jack trying to act demure says oh I’ll hunt it down with my hunters. So then Ralph says you and your boys with sticks. That really put Jack over the top he got so mad he said that Ralph was not being a good leader and tried to get him voted out of chief. So when no one answered him he ran away and a lot of the boys followed him.
Once Jack was gone I was so happy because he acted like a prefect always telling people what to do. Ralph sort of made a taboo against the name “Jack”. I can finally tell Ralph all the good ideas I have without Jack telling me to shut up, like he always does when he is acting demoniac. I had a great idea that if we build the fire down on the beach then we won’t have to run up and down from the mountain. Ralph thought it was great so we started to build it.
Jack and his hunters came raiding our camp for wood supposedly they caught a really big one this time, and they paunched it. They were all dressed up with paint and pig blood. Jack offered for us to come and join his “tribe”. They make me worry because you can never know what they will do next. Now that they are off by themselves they let Jack make the decisions. I’m afraid!!!
