Quote 1:
Pg. 42, Elli, " There is so much I don't understand. I do need a friend..."
This quote relates to question number seven, because when Elli gets to America she meets a doctor that offers become her friend. He knew people that were also in Auschwitz. I think that so far the people Elli meets are nice to her.
This relates to me because when i am in a new place i want to have someone who is my friend. Also because I can imagine how terrible it would be to come to a new country and have no friends.
Question 1:
Why do you think that the doctor wants to be her friend?
Quote 2:
Pg. 44, Uncle Martin, " We will celebrate your arrival in America, the land of freedom, together with the holiday of Passover, the Festival of Freedom. What a wonderful coincidence!"
This quote shows how much the immigrants like America. Like it says in the quote they think that it is the land of freedom which it is. They also incorporate their Jewish culture into it by celebrating Passover.
I can relate to this because i celebrate Passover and it is the Festival of Freedom. Also because I like to celebrate that holiday, because it is fun.
Question 2:
How would you feel if you came to America from the Holocaust? Explain?

I can totally understand why i chose this quote and I can also relate to you. When I am new to a place I want to have someone who I can talk to while I get comfortable at the new place I'm at. I also liked how you describe how this quote relates to you. It was really descripted.
