Journal #2 - Chapters 4-7 - Perspective: Scout

I woke up this morning and went to the kitchen. I asked Calpurnia if she made some crumbcake, but she said she was too busy. later that day i was walking over to Jem chewing some gum, when he asked me where I got it from. I told him I picked it off the Radley tree, he screamed so loud when he heard that and he told me to spit it out right away. "That could kill you!" he said.

We were walking down the street when we saw a little shiny box for like a wedding ring. It had a lot of tin foil from gum wrappers and inside were two shiny, polished pennies, one from 1900 and another from 1903 so they were pretty old. It looked like someone was collecting them, but there wasn't anyone around so we took them. Jem said he would keep the safe so I gave them to him. When we got home he showed them to Atticus, who seemed very interested. That night the two of them stayed up talking it seemed important.
