Journal #1 Jem

My name is Jem, short for Jeremy Atticus Finch. My dad Atticus is a lawyer. I have a six year old sister named Scout; we were playing outside one day until we heard something next door so we went to find out what it was. When we got over there we met this boy named Dill. He is seven years old, but he can read, just like my sister. One day we were telling Dill about Boo Radley, the boy who lives in the house on our street. We told Dill how he got sent to a special school and ever since, no one has ever seen him. After that Dill wanted to make Boo come out of his house, so he dared me to get him out. But I didn’t want to, I felt irked, he might kill me. I made a compromise with Dill that I will just touch the house and then he won’t say I chickened out.
When the end of summer came along we had to go back to school. On the first day I had to take my sister to her very first day of school ever. While we walked to school I told Scout not to irk me, follow me, and to just stay away from me. At lunch Scout was rubbing Walter Cunningham’s face in the dirt. I went over and told her to stop. She told me about her class with him, because I knew how poor Cunningham’s are I let Walter eat lunch with me. When we got home from school Scout told me that her teacher wanted Atticus to stop teaching her, because she knew too much for her age. Calpernia took Scout into the kitchen, because she wasn’t saying anything to Walter at lunch. All three of us went back to school to finish up the day. When we got back it was more about Scout’s teacher Ms. Caroline.

You covered everything in the chapters with the descriptions in order. You also used the vocab nicely. Next time you should slow it down a little bit, because you don't have to mention everything in the chapter you just need to include the important parts. Also Try to make it a bit longer with more details about Walter and Burris.

Nice Job!

you did a great job at explaining everything, and using the vocab words. You explained a lot, but most of it wasn't the most important parts of the chapter.
